Dealing With Rejection

Welcome back to my blog, today I am going to be talking about dealing with rejection and giving some self- care tips as its something we all have to deal with from time to time. So Storytime with Rachel. I recently got work experience in a radio station, spending two months getting this work experience, so it was a big deal.  I wanted to get this work experience because I love music and wanted to see if I would enjoy working in a radio station environment and if you didn't know already I study tv and media production in IT Carlow.

  I contacted over 100 radio stations, a local one and some up in Dublin too.  I got in contact via email from a local radio station, one of the producers from the current affairs department who told me they had no place left. After awhile of emailing back and forth, the producer came back and said there could possibly be a place in the sports department. I don't really have an interested in sport, but I wanted to do anyway to get some experience and get my foot in the door and plus if I didn't like it I could possibly change the department.

When to the radio station to start my work experience which I really enjoy doing the work, editing audio and meeting peoples that work in the radio station. The day was fun, and I learned a lot. The following Monday I got an email saying I was unsuitable for the job this I found strange because it wasn't a job it was work experience which I wasn't get paid for it. I emailed back the producer and asked why he found me unsuitable for the role, but I never got an answer.

I suppose rejection hits us in different ways and this type of rejection hit be hard mainly due to the fact I feel like I wasn't given a chance to prove myself. Dealing with rejection is never easy, and I think it's important to be kind to yourself and not beat yourself up over it because in the media industry you are going to hear No more time then you are going to hear yes. I think the most important thing is to not give up. Yeah, I didn't get to do work experience on that radio station, but I can try and get somewhere, and I have my podcast cluelessandinmy20s.
